Chuck steak (sometimes called blade steak or shoulder) is a sub-prime lean cut of meat from the shoulder of beef cattle. Meat No Veg chuck steak is sourced from the finest British livestock breeds reared on free roaming pastures from Scotland. All of our meat has been carefully selected for quality and is fully certificated. As our chuck beef has been pre cut into cubes by our master butchers, it is ready to be cooked.

Storage and handling

Fridge: Place it in the fridge as soon as you receive your delivery. Place in the coldest part.

Freezer: Freeze as soon as you get your delivery. Defrost completely before cooking. It can be kept for up to four months.

Cooks tips

It's particularly suitable for braising and for steak pies, hearty stews, bourguignon and casseroles. Our chuck steak is best when slow cooked in a pot or in the oven to ensure a full rich flavour and consistent tenderness. Our top tip - To cook a flavoursome beef casserole remember to add the root vegetables such as carrots, turnips and others, only about an hour before it's ready. Do not add these at the beginning of cooking, otherwise they will go soft and turn to pulp.
