This is a wonderful cut of meat due to its juicy flavour and delightful texture. Pork belly is a boneless cut of fatty meat, taken from the belly or underside of a pig. It’s occasionally known as streaky, draft or flank pork. As a fairly fatty meat a 100gm serving typically has about 520 calories.

Storage and handling

Fridge: Place in the coldest part of the fridge. Use within three days.

Freezing: Store pork joints in your freezer for 6 months. Wrap in heavy duty polythene bags, seal well and thaw thoroughly before cooking.

Cooks tips

Pork belly is excellent for roasting and makes a great boned, stuffed and rolled joint. For that extra special supper dish, economical for a family and tasty, it is hard to beat. With lots of crunchy crackling it is superb slow roasted. It can also be chopped up for casseroles or sliced for grilling.
