Meat No Veg prime venison steaks offer a low-fat, highly nutritious alternative to beef. Sourced from selected game farms, our venison steaks are from free-roaming deer that have been raised on the rolling hills of the British countryside where they are able to eat a naturally foraged diet. Our venison steaks are full of taste and have a firm texture. Meat No Veg venison steaks are trimmed and specially prepared for you by our skilled game butchers.
Fridge: Store venison in the coolest part of the fridge, and use within 2 days.
Freezer: Freeze within 2 days and ensure that the wrapping is airtight. Consume within 3 months, defrosting either at room temperature or in the fridge overnight.
Full of rich flavours, our venison steaks are best enjoyed when slowly fried for an unmistakable taste, complemented when accompanied by onions, sweet peppers and lashing of sour cream and chives. We suggest first searing them over a high heat, then turning the hob down to allow the mature meat to become tender. Cook until tender and slightly pink in the centre.
Classically venison is served with blackberries, redcurrants, red wine or juniper based sauces but it also perfectly complements beetroot and, if you want to impress your dinner party guests, can be served with a chocolate sauce. More traditionally, serve your venison steaks on a bed of mashed potato or rösti and with grilled fresh asparagus.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for an even more intense flavour hit, try marinating the steaks in some balsamic vinegar, rosemary, thyme and olive oil.
